Robotics and AILab

Robotics Lab

Four levels: Builder, Coder, Creator and Innovator.

At the end of each term, a level challenge: children build, code and present their project. Challenge completed, they move up to the next level. Otherwise, they continue at the same level.

THE ROBOTICS LAB PATHWAY

12 grades. One step at a time.

Each grade takes about half a term: 6 sessions of 1h30. Your child presents their project and moves up to the next grade when they're ready.

At the end of each grade

AchievedorNot yet

No marks, no rankings.

Grades 1–3 · from age 8

Builder

I build and code with blocks.

  1. 1Build a robot and understand sequences
  2. 2Use sensors, loops and simple logic
  3. 3Modify, solve problems and explain
Grades 4–6

Coder

I write real code.

  1. 4Move from blocks towards Python
  2. 5Program circuits and use variables and conditions
  3. 6Build autonomous behaviour and simple algorithms
Grades 7–9

Creator

I understand AI and data.

  1. 7Discover how AI learns and create a first ML project
  2. 8Use Arduino/C++ and understand data quality and bias
  3. 9Build an IoT project and think about data responsibility
Grades 10–12

Innovator

I invent solutions.

  1. 10Design and optimise a solution
  2. 11Take part in a real challenge or hackathon
  3. 12Build and present an independent robotics & AI project

A project presented at every grade

To the group, and to parents at the end of each level.

Generative AI from age 13

Before that, children learn how AI works, without generative tools.

Aligned with UNESCO

AI competency framework for students (2024).

How the program works

Robotics Lab is the progression pathway. Children design a machine, program its behaviour, document their work and improve it through testing.

Each term completes one level. At level 4, children defend their final project before a jury.

Levels

  1. Builder

Build stable mechanisms and make them move.

  2. Coder

    Program actions, conditions and reactions.

  3. Creator

Lead and defend an original robotics project.

  4. Innovator

Measure, diagnose and design complex systems.

What children learn

  • A documented machine at each level
  • Programming and autonomous behaviour
  • A level 4 project defended before a jury

Human skills developed

  • Project ownership
  • Defending technical choices
